Kevin Max is best known for the sound of his inimitable voice. Only a handful of singers can truly claim the elusive title of 'Unique.' Often coined, 'Enigmatic' or 'Eccentric' these terms only serve as blanket references to what many already know as a truly one of a kind- 'Maxified' sound. Max, from the very beginning, was obsessed with progression and genre skipping art, his career in music is a blatant testament to his commitment to change. Beginning with 4-time Grammy-Award winning and 17 GMA-Dove Award winning group DC Talk, he forged new territory by expanding the borders of what Christian music could sound like and helped exponentially grow the sales and awareness of Christian music. From 1987-2001, He was a founding member of the band and principle songwriter. The 'Jesus Freak' and 'Supernatural' albums received mainstream attention and the group was signed to Virgin Records for a short term. DC Talk was a formidable touring band, becoming one of the few CCM acts to sell out arenas in the 90's as well as appearing on late night talk shows with Jay Leno and Arsenio Hall. Featured in Time Magazine and Rolling Stone as the true pioneers of CCM, the group would later take an 'Intermission' after the Grammy Award winning album 'Solo', featuring all three members individual songs. During the 2000’s, as a solo artist, Kevin explored new musical directions releasing several highly-acclaimed albums that ranged in styles from alternative rock and spoken word to pop and rootsy gospel. In direct parallel to his music, since the mid 90's, Max has been a published author with books of poetry, a novel (Fiefdom Of Angels), film actor ( The Imposter ), and continued touring the world which included residencies in LA and Las Vegas. Collaborations with avant garde guitarist Adrian Belew ( Stereotype Be, Ravensongs 101 ) and electronic music pioneers '3kStatic & Pop Will Eat Itself' (Crashing Gates, Cotes d' Armor ) secured Kevin's status as truly diverse.
In a brief foray from 2011-2013, Kevin joined his long-time friends in the band Audio Adrenaline as their new lead singer. Their album “Kings & Queens” was highly successful and garnered a massive hit radio single of the same name. Kevin’s return to the CCM industry was welcomed with amazing enthusiasm as evidenced not only by success in sales and radio, but by playing almost 200 shows in support of the album. Fans and industry gatekeepers were ecstatic to once again hear the incomparable ‘voice’ of Kevin Max on tour and on the radio. Far from just an album and another project however, Kevin and Mark Stuart ( founder of Audio Adrenaline and the non-profit Hands & Feet organization) brought awareness to the children of Haiti. The single 'Kings & Queens' was filmed on location in Jacmel Haiti featuring the children from the HAF villages.
Currently Kevin has returned to making music as a solo artist, releasing the album 'Broken Temples' in 2014. He was featured in 2015 on the compilation album, 'Living Hope' with his single 'Panic Button.' The project 'Starry Eyes Surprise' ( released in 2015 ) carries on in the tradition of his chameleon-like temperament as an album composed of classic/alternative 'crooner songs about the night.' Adopting the phrase 'anti-establishment-anti-titles-Pro-Dreaming''... Max continues to push the envelope with a series of new projects on the horizon including the synth Ep 'The Same Wavelength' and is already at work on a full length art rock album titled 'Playing Games With The Shadow.'
